ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Wayne Mac enjoyed a successful career as an announcer and program director in commercial radio and a program producer with ABC radio during the '70s and '80s. He is best known for his long stint at Canberra's 2CC and as the inaugural Program Director of KIX 106 fm, now Mix 106.3.

Don’t Touch That Dial, Hits 'n' Memories of Australian Radio is Wayne's first book: a creation born of his huge collection of radio station and pop memorabilia. Also his belief that this era of radio should be documented for future generations and enjoyed, for what it was, by those who experienced it.

Wayne has contributed to several academic studies, articles, books and websites on broadcasting. He has been a guest on countless radio shows and has presented occasional lectures on radio history for students undertaking media courses.

Since 1989 Wayne has worked in several Commonwealth Government agencies in Canberra. He and wife Jan have five children between them and are very close to becoming 'empty nesters' ... except for the two family cats!

Don't Touch That Dial is published independently by Wayne and Jan under the imprint WDJM-our initials. Plus it's the call sign of FM 91.3 at Framingham State College, Massachusetts USA.

The book was made possible though the generous support of the following organisations.
